Invitation

You are cordially invited to the IV Workshop of the Tizon Latino Network. The objective is to share knowledge and experiences about late blight and other solanaceous diseases in Latin America, discuss joint research projects and promote actions that strengthen the Tizón Latino Network. In addition, today we want to expand the network to other potato pathologies of importance for Latin America.

This event will be held prior to the XXIX Congress of the Latin American Potato Association (ALAP) organized by the Chilean Potato Association ACHIPA (http://achipa.cl).

  • Place: Hotel Cabañas del Lago, Klenner 195, Puerto Varas, Región de Los Lagos, Chile.
  • Date: Monday, March 27, 2023, between 9:00 to 18:00 hrs.
  • Registration cost: US $60 per person (include materials, lunch and coffe)
  • Sessions: oral and panel presentations. We invite you to share the latest technical advances related to potato health. If you are interested in participating with a presentation, contact Ivette Acuña at iacuna@inia.cl. Indicate in subject: Summary Tizon Latino.

The impact of climate change on the potato crop and other solanacea plant, as well as on their health status, makes it necessary to constantly study the populations of pathogens, their epidemiology and their interaction with the environment, to determine appropriate management strategies with a sustainable approach. In the specific case of potatoes, the socio-economic context of this crop in Latin America makes it necessary to seek to reduce the direct and indirect effects caused by late blight and other emerging diseases, which affect the food security of low-income farmers.

We look forward to seen you in Puerto Varas,

Organizing Committee
